How does a unbroken man look like?
In summary, I’ve observed there are 4 main characteristics that describe a unbroken man:
1. Full of Self
Symptoms:
Overly conscious of self. Not willing to lift hands in worship. What will my friends think about me? What will the girl I like thinks about me? Everything has got to do with him/herself. Often, their mindset is as if a 3rd party camera was constantly trailing them around, scrutinizing even the smallest actions. Insecurity is really at the root of it all.
2. Emotionalism
Symptions:
Melancholic, mood swings, attention seeking, chronic fear, anger flare ups, depression. It’s all about emotions. The person feels happy one moment, and suddenly moody for no apparent reasons the next moment. Their life is dictated by their feelings. As long as they don’t ‘feel’ anything, they assume that God has left or rejected them. One common remark: “I don’t feel God during worship”. We live by faith and not by sight (feelings)!
3. Intellectualism
Symptions:
Questioning miracles God did. Doubts. Living in the now all the time. Short sightedness. Refusal to accept the truth until he sees it or experiences it. These category of unbroken people are mastered by logic and reasoning. They will throw every possible logical skeptic before they will accept that only by grace through faith alone do we live in Christ. They are what we term “Doubting Thomas”, who was not convinced Jesus resurrected from the dead until Jesus appeared to him and asked him to place his fingers into the nail pierced wounds on His hands.
John 20:29- Jesus declared a promise that those who believed God even though they did not see were blessed.
4. Low impact life
Symptoms:
No spiritual growth. Always barren. no fruits. Sitting there always relying on others to get them out of their problems. Spiritually stagnant. Fear of evangelism. Unbroken people with these symptoms lead very miserable lives, because they barely make it to hit the ‘Maintainence and survival’ mark. They go through the same routines daily, but there is no joy or sense of destiny in whatever they do, because it is all going through the motions. They are often found at the level called Forgiveness of sins, and all they know about being an overcomer in Christ is the fact that they managed to drag their feet to church service or cell.
