Conclusion to the Power of Brokenness
There are shakings happening right now all around us in the church and in the world, at all levels.
Nationwide
During the recent AWARE Saga, it was suddenly a disgrace to be called a Christian in Singapore, because of infighting within AWARE between the Christians. Also, we heard of the H1N1 swine flu hitting Riverlife church and another church in Singapore, in addition to the soaring number of cases reported, and such is the extent that our government has had to switch to mitigating the virus spread as it is out of control.
Now isn’t the time for us to put our focus on petty issues like doctrinal differences, church attendance comparisons etc. The fields are white unto harvest, and when we choose to focus on doing our Father’s business, all these minor issues fade away in the light of God’s glory! When souls start pouring in like never before into churches, there isn’t time to bicker and debate because everyones’ hands are on deck, helping to bring and disciple these souls. When we take care of Father’s business, He takes care of ours.
Are you always feeling self conscious, insecure?(full of self) Perhaps you need to allow God to break you so that you can receive the Father’s love. Or are you an attention seeker:- you live on people’s acceptance(emotionalism)? Then this is the day to be broken. Are you a doubting Thomas? one who always doubts God’s work, and you won’t believe God at His promises until you see it happen?(Intellectualism). Or is your life a low impact one? Wake up, go to school/work and then come back home to sleep? When we choose to take the focus of our eyes off our sin struggles, issues, problems, challenges, and dare to step out in faith to let God use us in whatever way He wills, we’ll notice that the magnitude of our problems suddenly become very minute.
From my past experience, I can really identify with people who find it hard to break out of depression. It took me nearly over a year and a half to get the breakthrough, and when you are going through it, there just seems to never be an end to the darkness. It was through an event when I was faced with a tough decision whether to give up or keep a leadership post for the best interests of other members , that God dealt with my pride. The good news was that after that season of breaking in my life, the negative emotions and depression that ruled my life for nearly 1.5 years left just as sudden as it happened!
Let’s allow the Holy Spirit to reveal to us areas that need to be broken before God can use us. Our unsaved generation does not need any more emo Christian kids, nor do they need any more ‘Christian punk rock bands’ to be relevant to them. They are dying deep down to know if our God really works, and only brokenness will allow the power of God to work through our lives to them.
This post concludes the long series on the Power of Brokenness. Do leave your comments and discussions if any! Thank you.
